Cryptoquote Spoiler – 04/18/18

Only when one has lost all curiosity about the future has one reached the age to write an autobiography.”   —   Evelyn Waugh

(If you say so, . . . Evie???  What kind of nickname do you give a guy named Evelyn?  It always freaked me out a little when “Brideshead Revisited” was playing on PBS, back in the early ’80s.  First, the subject matter was a little risqué, for the time.  And second, the writer had my Aunt’s given name . . . but as a man!  My Aunt was a very joyful woman, and so much fun to be around.  Her childhood nickname – Tweetsie – stuck with her throughout her life.  Much to her chagrin.  This Waugh dude, though an acclaimed writer, sounds like he was a pill.  I don’t have a photo of my Aunt handy, so I’m posting a photo of Evelyn Lozado.  No one would confuse her for a man!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  FOR INSTANTS

(Now, that is one fine, aromatic instance of wordplay!  I whole edly approve of today’s Jumble!  None of today’s clue words are new, but three of the jumbles appear to be.  We have seen the jumble “itaxfe” some time in the past.  The only jumble that gave me pause was “teerb”.  Maybe, because “beret” is – originally – a French word.  And, maybe because I once had a girlfriend who wore a Raspberry Beret . . . a little before the song came out.

The answer letter layout was a well thought out jumble.  I found there nothing to be obvious.  Does that sound like good English to you???  Hmm!

Nice cartoon of a middle-aged couple, starting out their day in the kitchen.  Kind of a strange looking kettle, pouring hot water into two self-promoting mugs.  The bonus clue is the name on the can:  Quick Coffee!  The little scoop in the can was a nice touch.  The wife/woman is doing SOME kind of puzzle.  Could it be the Sudoku?  LOL!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Kudos to those who wrote in to tell me that the other prop was Groucho-type glasses!  The cartoon has already been recycled, but it sounds logical to me!     YUR
