WHOYD = HOWDY, MURRO = RUMOR, LGOONB = OBLONG, FRATID = ADRIFT — Giving us: HDRUMOBOIFT

Answer: “BIRD“ OF MOUTH
(This might be the stinkiest of stinky puns in a long long time! But of course, I like it, because I can just hear the groans of those who do not appreciate puns. This one just kind of rubs it in their faces!
All of today’s clue words are known and well listed, while all of the jumbles had not previously existed. I could see the first three, but “fratid” left me a little twisted. Kind of funny that one of the clue words is “rumor”, considering the punny answer. The answer letter layout was a humdinger of a jumble. None of the answer words jumps out at you.
Fine cartoon. Birds in the parrot family, like macaws, are generally highly intelligent. Many of them can mimic other animals, including the human voice. Who of us hasn’t heard the bird cliché: Polly want a cracker? The favorite sidekick of pirates! Maybe it was something just made up by Robert Louis Stevenson. Maybe he just liked the alliteration of Polly, the pirate’s parrot! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
