Clue/Question: She loved the wording of his marriage proposal and thought it – – –
Pre-Answer: Six Words (3-letters) (1-letter) (4-letters) (4-letters) (2-letters) (2-letters)
Answer: HAD A NICE RING TO IT
(I think the bigger pun was in the cornball’s delivery! “will you be my first mate, for life?” LOL! Popular culture has convinced just about everyone that you need to do something over the top to prove that you really love someone. You have to stage your proposal, just so, so it’s either “unique”, or “clever”, or something worthy of going viral on the internet. The diamond can be no less than a full carat. Preferably larger. And from there, the fun and games – and exorbitant costs – go on and on and on and on. Understatement and subtlety have become dirty words. It’s the 21st Century version of Keeping up with the Jones’s! Some people see it, and rebel against the ludicrousness, but most have – willingly, or not – drunk the proverbial Kool-Aid. I’m so glad that part of my life is in the past.
All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends. One of the jumbles, “ccaidi” is also an old friend. The other five jumbles seem to be new. They all kind of jumped off the page for me though, with the exception of “ccaidi”. For a second, or two, I was considering Acadia!
The answer letter layout was a beautiful 16 letter jumble, but the clue/question, and the woman’s dialog made the answer pretty automatic, for me.
Proposing out on Lake Michigan, with the Chicago city-scape in the background made for a very nice cartoon. I like that Jeff took care to life-jacket the pooch! I’m guessing that the tag on the man’s life-jacket says Jumble. Not a toughie, but always fun. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

GOT A RICE HAND IN IT also uses the available letters. That makes no sense of course, but that’s what I came up with first, heh. When I got no credit for my creative answer in the online puzzle, it was back to the drawing board, and I did find the right answer a few minutes later.
Well . . . they used to throw RICE after the wedding ceremony! Didn’t they??? That’s it! I’m editing my answer to “GOT A RICE HAND IN IT”! Just cause of our buddy, David! — YUR 😉
