Answer: OVERDOING IT
(This gag would also work with the activity in the background, the pole vault. You might even argue that it applies to the hurdles, the steeple chase, and other equine jumping events. Are there any others?
All of today’s clue words are tried and true. Unlike yesterday, where WAGGLE was new! Got that, boss man? All of the jumbles appear to be new, and “glory” spells out in alphabetical order. The answer letter layout was jumpin’! Or sumpin’.
Nice track and field cartoon. You don’t really see all that many track and field events at the Summer Olympics anymore. Mostly just the various races. I can’t remember when I last saw the hammer throw, or the shot put, or the javelin. They mostly show events where Americans excel, or there’s some high profile, charismatic star athlete, like Usain Bolt. I always liked “Spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of sport…” The more popular events kinda bore me. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
