An editor is one who separates the wheat from the chaff and prints the chaff.”   —   Adlai Stevenson

(Most likely said by II.  He was very popular with liberal-minded folks of the 1950s and early 1960s.  A well respected politician.  But, super tough running against the war hero, Eisenhower, and then the charismatic Jack Kennedy.  I wonder what he’d think of today’s media?  Yeesh!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Adlai Stevenson is only a name I’ve seen in history.

Can’t say I recall him running against John Kennedy. I only remember Richard Nixon as Kennedy’s opponent.

    Got it !

That was before I was mature enough to pay attention to elections.

Apparently, Stevenson wasn’t on television, which is where I got my first sight of Kennedy and Nixon.

They were right about Kennedy; he was cool and calm as an ice cube. He looked like sugar wouldn’t have melted in his mouth.
