Clue/Question:  To become successful, the musicians would – – –

Answer:  BAND TOGETHER

(When that show, “Survivor”, first debuted, I thought it was going to be about the people banding together, to the benefit of all involved.  But, when I saw that it was all about people *building* “alliances”, and sniping and plotting to stab others in the back . . . I bailed after that first episode.  And, I’ve never returned.  Humankind is supposed to be better than that.  For the greedy television executives to appeal to the basest instincts of lowbrow television viewers, to me, is an insult to our intelligence.  For it to have lasted nearly 18 years is a sad commentary on American society.

But, all of today’s clue words are true blue, un-new, clue words!  And, 3 of the jumbles appear to be new, with only “ploee” having definitely been used before.  The answer letter layout was fairly intimidating.  There was definitely nothing obvious about it.  The clue/question, along with the great cartoon, led me to BAND.  And, from there I was able to join together.  From the looks of it, Jeff was going for a specific band.  Maybe something like Dave Matthews, or John Mayer, or maybe even Jack Johnson.  One of those mellow soft Rock bands.  Not really my style, but I do like the occasional mellow song.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
