Clue/Question: They knew the time of the author’s reading because of the – – –

Answer: TELL–TALE SIGNS
(He has won some Edgars, among MANY other awards, so it’s okay to use “telltale” when speaking of Stephen King. A great all-around Jumble. No new clue words, but all of the jumbles appear to be new. I really liked “egneva”. The answer letter layout was a really beautiful, cryptic jumble. It took me a few looks to see the SIGNS. But after that, the Ls, Ts and Es revealed enough to me, to give me the remainder. Nice bookstore cartoon. The signs made it all possible. Mr. King has always reminded me of my one-time college roommate, Doug Smith, of Caltech fame! Both brilliant guys. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
