Visual Description: Just a skiff tiff?
YTAFT = FATTY, SDERS = DRESS, DPERAA = PARADE, TAVCIE = ACTIVE — Giving us: FATDREPRDATI
Clue/Question: The couple once happily sailed together, but, over time, they – – –
Answer: DRIFTED APART
(They’d become like two ships passing in the night. Him, sailing to the marina bar and grill, to drown his sorrows. And her, sailing off to meet her “personal trainer”. “Did she get tired or did she just get lazy? She’s so far gone she feels just like a fool.” It’s a sad, sad story, folks.
All the clue words were tried and true. Unlike our formerly happy couple. Three of the jumbles came up as new, with “tavcie” having been used before. Of course it had been used before. That’s why I had to back into “active”. . . again! Cavite just doesn’t cut it! The answer letter layout, even without the “A”, “T” and “I”, gave me just enough to figure out the answer. The cartoon did a nice job of showing the forlorn couple. I wonder which one will be the first to try to kill the other, for the insurance money? Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Hey Unc, didn’t have to back in but figuring out active took me some time. Solution came fairly easily once I got it tho. And I wanna thank you & the Boys for the lyin’ eyes. Took me back. Talk atcha soon. 👍
Glad that I could brighten your day a little, Barb! — YUR
Cavite is a province in the Philippines, it’s on the southern side of the bay Manila is on. The US Navy had a base there at the outbreak of WWII, which is why I know this. 🙂 But I knew that wasn’t going to be the right answer for a Jumble. 🙂
My wife is Filipina, Damid! I’m pretty sure that’s why I first went to cavite, instead of active. Small world, huh? — YUR
😀
I saw what you did there, Unc, with that photo of the uh, sailor, and “DRIFTING APART.” And in that same vein a belated Happier Valentines’ Day to all.
great music video by the Eagles!
UR, is the picture you posted, is it of Natalie Wood on a sailboat?
Yes it is, Jenn! Good eye! — YUR
Good for you Jenn. The hair threw me off.
Grand puzzler. Loved your musical storyline Unc.
Well, it happened here. I received a notice that beginning in March our paper was to cost us $50 a month. RUBBISH I say. The paper is basically nothing more than a glorified USA Today paper, I and I don’t like the USA Today paper anyway. And “feature” articles that appear in the News part of the paper are repeated in the USA today part of the paper. The typos are terrible, hardly any local news writers, etc., etc., etc., gripe, gripe, gripe!
So, the paper was immediately cancelled. I am, however, getting the on-line edition. I want my funnies, Jumble, and obits. It is working out well thus far.
AND, the husb prints out my jumbles for me. And we re-use the piece of paper to print out the next days jumble on the other side One sheet of paper to recycle every two days, not a paper to recycle everyday!
$600 a year for a newspaper…..absolutely a shame. LL
