Clue/Question: The importance of the Wright brothers’ success could be seen – – –

Answer: “PLANE“ AS DAY
(A classic, stinky pun! The kind that we all love. All of today’s clue words are tried and true, but all of the jumbles appear to be new! For about a second, I thought the first word was “dunge”, as sort of a verb form of dungeon. But, before I made a fool of myself, the right word nudged its way into my brain. No hesitation with the other jumbles.
The answer letter layout did an exceptional job of keeping the answer hidden. The quotation marks, the leading nature of the clue/question, and the snarky response of Wilbur, made getting the answer like an updraft to a glider.
The cartoon was nicely detailed. Good reproduction of the “Flyer”, great period costumes, readily apparent beach scene, some seagulls, and even a bonus classic sinking sailboat on the horizon. It’s pretty small, but it’s there, on the far right, just below the wing.
I’ve noticed an increase in snarky replies, a lot lately. And, I’m probably as guilty as the next person. People make statements, in good faith, hoping that others will agree with them, and not rob them of their thunder by saying things like: “Duh!”, “No kidding!”, “Well, obviously!” and “No shit!”. Too many of us feel the need to always outdo the other person, and it’s just not healthy for a constructive dialog. I think we all need to dial it back a little. Maybe, just convey that we already knew that with a sly smile, while saying things like: “You’re right” or “I agree”, and then add a point or two. Sure, egotistical braggarts could use a little taking down, from time to time, but most people aren’t looking for a round of applause for making a statement. They’re just trying to converse. Civility starts with the small things, guys. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
