Clue/Question:  When it came to music in the mid-1960s, the Beatles were at the – – –

Answer:  FOURFRONT

(FAB-ulous stinky pun!  It was fifty years ago last year.  Sgt. Pepper taught the folks to cheer.  Ah, yes.  I remember my grandparents telling me about the Beatles.  They were British, right?  LOL!  I actually remember . . . buying records!  And, record machines/phonographs/hi-fis/stereos!  Good times.  Simpler times, in many ways.

Hey!  We have a surprisingly new clue word today, in “knock”.  Our good buddy, ralis95, will have to add this to his world famous clue word database.  I’m surprised Mr. Hoyt hasn’t used it before.  The jumble for it wasn’t tough, but of course it was new too.  As was “fbetuf”.  Both “smurt” and “giroin” have been used before, and oddly enough, it took me a few looks to see “origin”.  The answer letter layout was well encrypted.  The answer did not jump off the page for me.

Great cartoon!  Wax Trax Records!  LOL!  I liked the guy’s Beatles’ haircut!  The album covers, showing the four heads, was a nicely subtle clue.  This Jumble might have thrown a few of you, for a bit.  But, it’s got a good beat, and you can dance to it!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  It’s the last day of Black History month, and I’ve hardly seen any mention of it!  What’s up with that?!!!  #FebruarySoWhite!  I apologize for not featuring it here on this blog.     YUR

Truth makes on the ocean of nature no one track of light; every eye, looking on, finds its own.”   —   Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton

(Yes.  Even as you are solving it you keep scratching your head, and think . . . WTF!  Well first off, the dude is a poet.  Second off, he’s British.  But, when you read it a few times, it begins to sink in.  Sure, Ed is a bit of a fancy pants.  But, he knoweth of what he speaketh!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  GENERAL PUBLIC

(Sniff, sniff, sniff!  Ah, there’s nothing like the smell of stinky puns in the morning!  Smells like . . . victory!  LOL!

There are no new clue words today.  But two of the jumbles appear to be new, with “norgp” and “scuace” having definitely been used before.  The answer letter layout was a regimental masterpiece.  I found nothing about it obvious.

The cartoon itself didn’t give anything away either.  The dialog gave some hints, but it was the clue/question that really set the table . . . so to speak.  A very enjoyable Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Dog Abuse in Virginia!

Do you guys think dogs should be left chained up outside, in ALL kinds of extreme weather, day and night?  Well, the House Agriculture Subcommittee in Virginia thinks it’s just fine!  They refuse to vote on a bill (SB872) that would prevent this type of abuse.  Allegedly, “they’re in bed with the hunting lobby and the dog breeders; they are corrupt; their votes have been purchased.”

If you’ve got the time, and the inclination, give these guys a call, and give them a piece of your mind.  (Or, write them an email.)

Answer:  DUMBBELL

(I’m always amused by the number of people who can’t seem to just enjoy their workout.  They need to be entertained.  They have to be wired.  Pathetic.  But, that seems to be the new norm.  And, apparently, I’m now an anachronism.  Among the small, insect-eating, scampering mammals, yer uncle remains the defiant Allosaurus.

Today’s clue words are all tried and true.  While all the jumbles appear to be new.  For some reason, I couldn’t focus in on “blurry”.  I actually had to back into it!  The prior three . . . came to me, immediately.  The answer letter layout was a fine jumble, but with it beginning with a D and ending with an L, it wasn’t supremely challenging.

The cartoon did a nice job of conveying a gym doofus.  I think even Planet Fitness would judge him thusly.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  WRENCHED HIS BACK

(Ow!  I’m sure we’ve all been there.  Back pain can really sap you of all your strength.  Definitely no fun!  All of today’s clue words are fairly commonplace.  Who’da thought that common place would be a compound word?  Not this uncle!  All of today’s jumbles appear to be new though.  None of them ripped me up any.

The answer letter layout was a wonderfully cryptic jumble.  None of the answer words jump out at you.  It all boils down to the clues in the cartoon.  The older guy holding the big wrench in one hand, and his back in the other.  Those were pretty big clues!  It was a fun Sunday Jumble though.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
