“I think fame itself is not a rewarding thing. The most you can say is that it gets you a seat in restaurants.” — David Bowie
(Apparently, far too many use their “fame” to take . . . liberties with others. It sounds like Ziggy Stardust was far more grounded than many give him credit for. Attaboy, Mr. Jones! Miss you. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Have you noticed that Dave Bowie has a feminine face ?
Was androgyny part of his act like some other performers: Marilyn Manson, Alice Cooper, Annie Lennox, Sinead O’Connor, et alia ?
Bowie and Cooper were contemporaries, but I wouldn’t call Cooper’s shtick “androgyny”. Just borderline nightmare. LOL! I’d say Bowie pretty much invented androgyny, as a shtick in the rock genre. Annie Lennox and Sinead O’Connor also weren’t androgynous, in my opinion. Sure, they employed the short cropped – or no – hair look, but they didn’t surrender their femininity. Marilyn Manson was/is fullout – and frequently androgynous – nightmare! He’s probably the only one of the group that I’m not really a fan of. A little too much freak show, and not lyrical enough for my tastes.
