(Until I realized there was no D, I thought the first word might be scaped.  I know it’s not really a word, but that’s how my wife pronounces escaped!  None of today’s clue words are new, however three of the jumbles appear to be.  We’ve definitely had “gimsat” before.  I love the word “stigma” though.  It’s a simple, but powerful word.  The answer letter layout was an excellent jumble!  It reads like some town in the southwest.  Pecos Gate, New Mexico?  Cute cartoon.  Who doesn’t like talking animals?  In the distance you can see the faint visage of one said billy-goat!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Love it! One of the better puns of the year.

At first I didn’t look carefully enough at the cartoon, so my misdirection was thinking GATE was the second word. But when I finally decided there really was no such thing as a SCAPOE GATE, I took a closer look and saw the hole in the fence and figured it out.

PYAPH 2018 to all Jumblers. May we somehow find a way to unscramble this mixed-up world we live in.

I don’t think your wife pronounces escaped that way. And I’ll bet your daughter knows the word yen that you commented on the other day. Those gals better gang up on you cuz you’re pretty hard on them. Remember, be kind and do good. MJ

Honest Injun, MJ! This site has no reason to create such things. Nothing “hard” about real life references, my friend. If I feel that something cute from my life is relevant to what I’m posting, then I’m going to use it. Be well, pal. — YUR

YUR, did you catch the spider web in the corner of the opening of the barn? It says ‘Some Pig’, a nod to Charlotte’s Web.

I had a hard time with Butane. Had to back into it.

Keep it up, UR. Personal and family experience is what makes us what we are. Also, anyone who says “escape goat” has wonderful antecedents. From Wikipedia:
William Tyndale rendered the Latin as “(e)scape goat” in his 1530 Bible.
So, in a way, it’s the goat that got away.

Better to be the (e)scapegoat than the sacrificed goat, eh, Roy?!?! (Blood sacrifices are just so barbaric.)

I do find it a little funny, Roy, that MJ singled out a couple of harmless things I said about my wife and daughter. Never said word one when I said similar things about my son. — YUR

OK, in regards to scaped/escaped, is this along the same vein as Scalloped/Escalloped potatoes? 😀

In the same vein, (e)spy is one I’m (e)specially fond of. It’s called apheresis … and also happens in words like (a)lone and (e)squire.
