Clue/Question: When the storm knocked out power to the school, the students were – – –
Answer: “DE–LIGHTED“
(Where is this school? A cave? Maybe in Seattle, or some place with limited sunshine? Actually, these days they probably can’t get by without their computers and such. Why, back in my day . . . Ah, never mind.
No new clue words today. However, all of the jumbles appear to be new. I forgot to mention that a few of the Sunday Jumble jumbles were a little challenging for me. Can’t remember which ones though. I’m getting old, folks. I saw all of today’s right away. The answer letter layout was . . . illuminating. The cartoon was a fun middle/high school classroom scene. Nice use of shading, Jeff. What are you, some kind of artist? LOL! Anyway. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Yeah you’re right, classrooms today have emergency lights and losing power to the lights wouldn’t be as much of a concern as losing power to all the electronics.
More back-in-the-day power stuff, schools weren’t air conditioned, and on the hot spring or fall days as the classroom temps pushed 85 or more in the early afternoons… some teachers would draw the shades, turn off the fluorescent lights (they generate some heat, but not like incandescent bulbs), and let you put your head down on your desk and stay quiet. Or go out for storytime under a shady tree where it was “cool” and ants could chow down. Girls might be in skirts, but students weren’t allowed shorts or pullover t-shirts either.
Sounds like my elementary school days, David. — YUR
The younguns’ these days have no idea! I had a bread company across from both my elementary school and my high school. Windows would be open in the glass room and when they cranked up the bread, OMG our mouths watered from the smell of bread baking! Grand memory!
This was a grand jumble! We were “de-lighted” when anything interrupted class!
