Visual Description: Grammatical tenses.
GNEBU = BEGUN, SUHEO = HOUSE, SMIRPH = SHRIMP, VTINEN = INVENT — Giving us: BEOSRVE
Clue/Question: The teacher was explaining action words to the students and was being – – –
Answer: VERBOSE
(The obverse of this anagram is observe! LOL! I liked this pun. It was a little different. And, not – initially – all that obvious to me. I saw observe right away though. No new clue words, but two new jumbles. We’ve seen both “suheo” and “smirph” before. The answer letter layout was pretty nifty. Decent cartoon. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Got most clues quickly, shrimp really had me stumped for a while! Then I saw observe immediately and knew it made no sense whatsoever. After a few seconds of staring the answer became clear. Good cartoon. Funny how we all look forward to these daily puzzles. 🤗
I saw Observe right off, and couldn’t get past it until I read the clue letters backwards. Then Verbose jumped out. I think it sort of shows how we see words by the direction we read.
That’s good anagramming, UR … if you’re a numismatist, you OBSERVE the OBVERSE and RESERVE the REVERSE of the coin …
Excellent, Roy! (AKA: The Artist Formerly Known as Hal) — YUR
I can’t argue with that, Damid! — YUR
It’s always great to start the day with some minor victories, Barb! — YUR
D I A B O L I C A L !!! The guyz put one over on me today!
I found OBSERVE immediately. And was stuck, blinded TOTALLY. I wish I had hung in there. I had written the clue letters backward but had not continued to diagram them out.
And, this has nothing to do with anything…my handy dandy Spelling Ace died. It just died. And it made me so sad. I had gotten this ACE for my mama for her birthday, but she passed prior to receiving it. I took my Ace and set it aside for our mountain condo so that I could use mama’s ACE. It always made me think of her every time I picked it up …. other than the countless time I think of her anyway. But, she was now part of my Jumbles. I guess I’ll dedicate the new ACE to her.
Onward and forward with my Jumbles! LL
Can’t it be repaired, LL? — YUR
Darn it, LindaLee, I’m sorry about your Spelling Ace. I totally understand its significance to your dear mom. Maybe if it can’t be repaired, you can keep it in your ‘Jumble Spot’ as a meaningful paperweight? Hugs Hugs…and hoping you and everyone has a merry and blessed December. (and a feasty Festivus, for the rest of us, LL!) =)
Maybe you could even paint it in your Mom’s favorite color too! That way it would be a great reminder of her, and you wouldn’t confuse it with your functioning one. — YUR
Unc, great ideas!!!! I can’t throw it away! I keep thinking it will magically wake up. And I keep trying different batteries.
Jenn! Love it — feasty Festivus , for the rest of us!! It IS a good word!!
Happy December all!!! You certainly lightened my mood today. LL
Hey, whatever it takes, kiddo. Right? We’re all hear for each other! — YUR
You betcha!
It is an absolute Christmas Miracle!!! I feel like a Hallmark movie!!!! The Husb purchased a whole new pack of batteries, I put four of the new batteries into my Handy Dandy Franklin Spelling Ace and turned it over. I closed my eyes and opened the Ace. I opened my eyes and the display was on. OMG! Then I tested it with real words, and made up words. I am vera excited. It was a feasty festivus for sure!!! Linda Lee
Hip hip, Hooray!!! Way to persevere, LL! — YUR
LL, YAY!!
