Visual Description: Special Sunup preview.
VIRRE = RIVER, ZELGA = GLAZE, MYIKPS = SKIMPY, TREEJS = JESTER — Giving us: RRLAESIYSER
Clue/Question: The hot air balloonists were able to see the Sun come up because they were – – –
Answer: EARLY RISERS
(Where’s Toto? Where’s the Wizard?? Where’s Phileas Fogg and Passepartout??? Whenever I see the wicker gondolas for hot air balloons I think of those two movies: “The Wizard of Oz” and “Around the World in 80 Days” – 1956 version. Great movies with great casts! We had all old favorite clue words today, however three of the jumbles came up as new. We’ve seen “treejs” before. The answer letter layout was a beautifully cryptic jumble. And, a fine cartoon. Would make a nice Folgers commercial. We had a great week of guest cartoonist, didn’t we? Thanks for the treat, guys! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Today was a Vnat day for me. Got all the clue words quickly, and the answer was fast as well. I think it took me longer to write down all the clue letters than it took to solve the Jumble. 🙂
Ditto on balloons reminding you of those movies- I also think of the book ’21 Balloons’. It’s one of those books I loved, and yay, my kids did too.
Damid, isn’t it a great day when we have a Vnat / Vijay day? It’s so rare for me, that I must celebrate. =)
Hi there, could you please explain a Vnat and/or a Vijay day? Happy Thanksgiving to all the humblest and our fearless leader, Yur.
Thanks, Barb! Vijay was a gentleman from Cal Tech, who used to be a frequent commenter. His big thing was doing the online Jumble, and posting the time that it took him to complete it. After a while he just stopped commenting. He was a combination of a “reason” and a “season”. He was around for about a season, and his reason was to get me to add the Pre-Answer portion to the Sunday Jumble. I guess he just moved on to other pastures.

I do think about Vijjay and wonder if he checks in every now and then.
Great jumble, and I was stuck for the the answer. It took me about a day and a half. I finally unjumbled EARLY from the clue letter list and, voila, there the answer was.
Question. Usually the Jumble has JUMBLE in box letters across the top of the puzzle/cartoon, then JUMBLE is spelled kinda dancing on the page over the clue words and next to that is: THAT SCRAMBLED WORD GAME by David L. Hoyt and Jeff Knurek. The last time I saw it presented that way was on 11/19. The jumbles from 11/20 through 11/25 (today) Just have the boxy JUMBLE across the top, and the guyz byline is not there. In its place is: “©Tribune Content Agency, LLC All Rights Reserved.” I was wondering what was up with that? All of the Jumbles still have the “Check out the new, free JUST JUMBLE app” along the left side of the Jumble cartoon. LL
Maybe our friends, Jeff and/or David, could answer this. I hadn’t picked up on this, LL. — YUR
