Clue/Question: The city was safer because of Dick Tracy’s – – –
Answer: CRIME WATCH
(Hey! It’s guest cartoonist week at the Jumble! This is always a lot of fun. There were no new clue words today, but all of the jumbles came up as new. Good jumbles, but I saw them all instantly. The answer letter layout was a great jumble as well. It hid the answer commendably. And, what can you say about the fantastic Dick Tracy cartoon?!?! It’s priceless. My newspaper doesn’t carry Dick Tracy, so this really takes me back. Nice job, Joe Staton. Way ahead of their time, with the two-way wrist watches! I can hardly wait to see what’s coming up next. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Joe was in Rhode Island this weekend at a Comic Con where he introduced a working two-way wrist watch. It uses Bluetooth to communicate with your phone. I may have to get one.
Pretty cool, Jeff! — YUR
You mentioned that your newspaper does not carry Dick Tracy. Is Dick Tracy still being carried today? I don’t think I’ve seen Dick Tracy in the newspapers since the 70s or even before that. And it was my favorite cartoon with all the characters!

It’s still out there in certain newspapers, MJ. Not sure how you’d find out which ones carry it, but maybe Jeff could find out for us.

Joe and DT writer, Mike Curtis, have won 3 Harvey Awards for Best Syndicated Comic in the last several years. They have done an amazing job with Dick Tracy. A few years ago, they had a story of The Jumbler! Dick came to the Jumble offices to ask David and I for help. Yes, I was a character in Dick Tracy! How cool is that?
Well, maybe not quite as cool as being a character in a Jumble! (LOL) But, yeah. Definitely cool. — YUR
So way cool Jeff!!! Thanks for the link. Thanks for all of the wonderful Jumbles! LindaLee
