“It is all very well to copy what one sees, but it is far better to draw what one now only sees in one’s memory.” — Edgar Degas
(Is this how Degas painted? I thought, back in his day, that it was perfectly okay to stand/sit around, and sketch, while watching young girls danced. From this quote, I would surmise that he watched for . . . some amount of time, then went back to his studio, and drew from memory. Can any Art History majors clarify this issue for me? Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
