It is all very well to copy what one sees, but it is far better to draw what one now only sees in one’s memory.”   —   Edgar Degas

(Is this how Degas painted?  I thought, back in his day, that it was perfectly okay to stand/sit around, and sketch, while watching young girls danced.  From this quote, I would surmise that he watched for . . . some amount of time, then went back to his studio, and drew from memory.  Can any Art History majors clarify this issue for me?  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  BYE“-PARTISAN

(Political parties have almost always been about partisanship.  But, there used to be more of a spirit of compromise, in the name of getting things done, for the good of the country.  Nowadays, everyone seems to be a hard-liner, and everyone seems reluctant to reach across the aisle.  And so, we all suffer from a form of gridlock.  Things simply don’t get done.  Both parties are guilty of this.  And, it needs to stop.

There are no new clue words today.  However, three of the jumbles came up as new, with “dibea” having been used before.  The answer letter layout was another masterpiece!  A superb jumble.  And, a cartoon right out of CSPAN!  LOL!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  I never knew that “munity” was a word!  When I miss-spelled  mutiny, WordPress did not correct me.  Apparently, it means:  a privilege that is granted.  Live and learn!     YUR

You can find poetry in your everyday life, your memory, in what people say on the bus, in the news, or just what’s in your heart.”   —   Carol Ann Duffy

(Our first quote from Britain’s Poet Laureate!  And, it’s a nice straightforward quote.  Not flowery, or steeped in cryptic symbolism.  It’s something everyday Joe Lunchboxes, like yer uncle, can understand.  For this, I am thankful.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  “MINER CHANGES

(This one is a real stinker.  A real groaner of a pun!  But, at least we have a new clue word, in “shrank”.  Our great friend, ralis95, will have to update his world famous clue word database once again!  None of the jumbled clue words slowed me down any.  But, the answer letter layout could have slowed me some, if I hadn’t picked up on the quotation marks, and immediately recognized that it had to be a play on MINOR.  Fine cartoon.  All of the coal smudges made me think that the cartoon was a little out of focus, but that was just an illusion.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
