Pay no attention to the man in the above quote! It is President Chester A. Arthur, not William Arthur Ward. Below is a photo – hopefully – of Billy Artie Ward! — YUR
“THE PESSIMIST COMPLAINS ABOUT THE WIND; THE OPTIMIST EXPECTS IT TO CHANGE; THE REALIST ADJUSTS THE SAILS.” — WILLIAM ARTHUR WARD
(Both quotes puts me in mind of the folks who complain about those “son of a bitch” athletes who take a knee during the playing of the National Anthem. Despite the greatness, and the “goodness”, of the United States of America, there IS definitely a major problem with institutionalized racism in this country. It won’t go away by wishing it away. And, political correctness really just sweeps things under the rug. Oh, no. Let’s not talk about it. Let’s just mask it behind banning words, and coming up with “acceptable alternatives”, like “the N-word”. That will fix everything! No, folks. We have to be willing to talk about it, as adults, not as over-protected toddlers. And, actually work for the necessary change. Just like Alcoholics Anonymous tells us: the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Let’s sober up, and get to work. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
