(Technically, Boulder CO is a high desert area, and not an alpine area.  Although, they’re at the foot of the Flatiron mountains.  The biggest clue to today’s answer, for me, was the painted window sign of Alpine Lanes!  Luckily, I’m working with the full-sized Jumble today, and not the reduced-sized one.  For you unlucky ones, stuck with the reduced-sized one, you might not have made this out.  You could get the pun, even without the visual clue, but it might have been more difficult for you.  None of the clue words were new today, but two of the jumbles appear to be.  We’ve definitely seen “igame” and “gyrol” in the past.  And, “glory” is another one of those words that spells out in alphabetical order!  Superb answer letter layout.  I don’t think it gave anything away.  I like the kind of crazed look Jeff gave the gambling bowlers.  Friendly betting is one thing, but it can easily get out of hand.  Be well and do good, friends.)  —   YUR

PS.  Some spammer tried to post a comment that said they could make this site the #1 site on Google.  Type in “jumble spoiler” in Google, and see what you get!  Also, another spammer has been repeatedly tried to post this weirdly aggressive rant against Donald Trump, Taylor Swift, and Emma Watson!?!?  It has come under various email addresses.  They’re both nonsensical and offensive, at the same time.  These things are why I have to manually approve the comments you read.  Some blogs seem to allow ALL comments.  If I could allow certain regulars’ comments to post automatically, I would.  I’m not sure if WordPress has the ability to do this.   —   YUR

    Does Angela work with you?

No, jazzy. “She” runs the johnny-come-lately, alternative, yet highly derivative (LOL!), spoiler site, for The Jumble only. I’m not sure when that site started up, or why it started up, but it’s a viable alternative to this site. Especially, for people who aren’t fans of my commentary, or want the spoilers earlier. I think there is something a little fishy about the comment exchange, but that could just be me.

    Thanks for stopping by though!

For me Unc, a tuff one. Saw roll right away but didn’t think to take it to rollers & what was left after roll made absolutely no sense. Oh well, just keep tryin’ & staying with the ONLY Jumble Spoiler site as far as I’m concerned. 🤗

Thanks, Barb! I appreciate your kind words. (But, I still think there is something a little hinky about that other site.) — YUR

Unclerave. “She” is not amused. “She” IS a “she”. 100% SHE. “She” is soooo not derivative; it’s insulting. “She” does not run the Jumble Answer site, “she” only helps out the Gentleman who started it. Hinky? Dishonest or suspect? Excuse me, doubly insulting. And, I’m sorry to hear you find our exchange of comments fishy; but one can’t help but wonder how you’re aware of it. As for me seeing this…I have a very close friend who subscribes to both Jumble Answer and your site. He brought this to my attention. And I must say, YUR, you’re not coming across as the classiest guy out there. Why knock a fellow Jumble lover? Where does that get you? What could you possible gain by knocking me? Personally, I like your commentary. But even if I didn’t, I’d never say so. Especially not in print, in a public domain. I was raised better than that. And I was raised in Brooklyn, as I believe you were. Strange bedfellows, that’s for sure. So in the future, perhaps curtail your critique? I’m a really, really nice woman. Not only do I not deserve the criticism, it’s mean spirited and childish, and totally unnecessary. “She” remains, Angela

Slow and steady worked for me today. I got the first two clue words OK, but the last two took some time after setting it aside for awhile. HYPHEN took the longest.
I saw the sign in the window, but didn’t make anything of it, opting to go through a lot of bowling terms. I got to ROLL, thinking it was the 4-letter word, but the remainder didn’t make sense. Then the IGH triggered it.
Spent more time than normal on today’s, but I got it in the end.

    PS. I was wondering about the 100% moderation…. 🙂

You mean of the comments, right? WordPress does have a spam spotter that catches/segregates around 90+% of spam posts, but a few do get through to the pending folder. Which is really good, because the one I was describing (the one that has come under 4 different email addresses) was pretty vile.

I bet you got today’s right away, Damid!

Wow. Methinks the lady doth protest too much. I said the site was derivative, not you. And, it does appear to be, in my opinion. I’ve seen numerous online personas, over the years, that were not what they appeared to be, and sometimes they weren’t even individuals, but committees passing themselves off as an individual. I used the word “hinky” simply meaning strange, or unusual. You came up with “dishonest” and “suspect” on your own. In my opinion (which is okay, because I’m expressing it on my blog) the commentary comes off as manufactured, or orchestrated. I’ve been doing this quite a long time, and I’ve followed numerous other blogs on WordPress, and I think I have an eye for conversation that seems less than organic. The only reason I know anything about the other Jumble blog is because I did a Google search to see if anyone was doing something close to what I’ve been doing for quite a while. I even gave the blog a free plug when I found it. I believe it was round abouts 2 months ago. Someone asked me why I would mention a competitor, and I said that I wasn’t concerned about a little competition. Then, just a week or so ago, someone (the same person?) asked if this newer site was cutting into my hits/queries. I said that there had been no noticeable decrease. But on second thought, I really have no idea if my numbers would be higher or the same if this newer site hadn’t started up. No use crying over spilt milk, kiddo! Finally, someone (your friend?) asked if I worked with Angela. I thought that was a pretty strange question, but I answered it. If you read my About page there’s nothing about me claiming to be a classy guy. There doesn’t seem to be any kind of About page at the other blog. But, am I really “knocking” you, if it’s not your blog, because you’re just helping out, right? Why would you believe I was raised in Brooklyn, if you yourself weren’t following MY blog? You do happen to be mistaken in that though. I did live in Brooklyn for about 3 and a half years, but I was already a young adult. But, I guess if you don’t want me to critique the blog, that’s not yours, but you help out on, you should ask your friend not to ask me questions about it. Because like I said, I gave the gentleman’s blog a free plug, and now I’ve allowed 3 separate comments – make that 4, with yours – regarding the blog, when normally I don’t generally allow comments that don’t pertain to my posts. Believe me, no matter how hurt you may think you have been by my comments, you are way ahead of the game. So, unless YOU want to offer ME some kind of apology (I won’t hold my breath), or you actually decide to comment on my content, then this will be the last comment that I will allow to be posted, that mentions the other blog . . . or you. Because, comments like yours and your friend’s are essentially spam. And, no one likes spam. Have a nice life, Ange.

Goodness gracious! Nope, don’t like spam! This jumbler was HARD. And when I got the answer, it was like, DUH!! It was right there! LL

And, this may be completely coincidental, but ever since I approved – and replied to – a *certain* poster, a week or so ago, my spam filter/folder has been overflowing with nearly twice as much spam as before. There’s no way to know, let alone prove, if there is any cause and effect here, but the timing seems a little more than coincidental. — YUR

I’m seldom stuck. But when I am, you’re where I turn for help. Thanks!

Because of what you said, I’m changing my email address to: Uncleravelovesselena@whoohoo.com, Selena!
