(I’ve been an apheresis donor a few times.  But, it’s a longer process than just a straight, whole blood donation.  I haven’t donated at all in a few years, which is too bad, but that’s the way it goes.  Lifetime, I’ve donated over 11 gallons.  They used to seem a lot more appreciative about blood donors than they are nowadays.  I remember all the level pins, attention, and special treatment they used to give you.  Back then, I always said I didn’t care about that stuff, but now that they’ve done away with it, I kind of miss it.  I always hear the demand is still high, but I guess they’ve gone the same way as corporations.  Even contest prizes used to be more substantial.  Now they offer you comparatively meager prizes, and try to make a big deal of it.  They all talk about the “bottom line” and being “responsible to the shareholders”, but I think that’s all a crock.  The fat-cats are just lining their pockets.  They’re even worse than our politicians.

Jumble?  Oh, yeah!  No new clue words, today.  But, three of the jumbles came up as new.  We’ve seen “veell” before.  I thought that “pibsoy” was an excellent jumble.  It took a few looks for me to see biopsy.  Marvelous answer letter layout.  No giveaways!  Great cartoon.  A combination of creepy and hip.  Be well and do good, friends.)   – – –   YUR

I had to back into BIOPSY. I got the answer from the other clue letters, but it took a minute to tie in SELLS with cells. :/ I was thinking, why sell blood? He’s paying for it, but I didn’t pick up on the bottom part of the cartoon.

Biopsy did give me a pause, but once I wrote the clue letters backward I got it. I had BLOOD, but was very unsure about SELLS. Like Damid, it took a minute to associate with CELLS, but I still thought I might be wrong!
I gave blood for many years and would be so given out for a couple of days after. Years down the road they found out I was very anemic and no one getting my blood was getting much benefit. My doc could not understand why they took my blood and the blood place always said I was borderline and they’d take it anyway. I was banned from blood donating!

Locro, the Jumble clue can also become the word ‘crool’ besides ‘color’ when unscrambled! As a Canadian reading a Canadian newspaper, it did not immediately occur to me to use the American spelling of colour as a possible solution. This gave me some trouble until I deciphered the clue regarding Dracula’s sales pitch! This from the Province newspaper dated Sunday, July 30, 2017.

I’m not familiar with “crool”, Anonymous one! WordPress does not recognize it as a legitimate word though. And, upon Googling it, I can see why. Dictionary.com and Collinsdictionary.com have it as Australian slang, so we’re safe with “color” being the only “accepted” words using those fiver letters. I haven’t been to Canada in quite a while, but I didn’t realize you guys bought into the extraneous (and inessential) U like the Limeys do! LOL! — YUR 😉
