Visual Description: Bird feeder frenzy.
DAAPN = PANDA, BEFLA = FABLE, LAVELY = VALLEY, PILUHL = UPHILL — Giving us: PNAFBALEUPL
Clue/Question: The bird never got upset or perturbed and was always composed. He was – – –
Answer: UNFLAPPABLE
(This one has an air of originality. It didn’t come off as a retread, like some of them do. None of today’s clue words are new, but all of the jumbles were. None of them tripped me up though. The answer letter layout was a great, cryptic jumble. Nothing obvious about it. The cartoon is a great backyard scene. Nice yappy dog, and a very handsome cardinal. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Agreed. Challenging long word for me. I needed over two minutes on the bonus word and had to crunch out trial-and-error combinations of letters until I got close enough to -FLAP- for the light bulb to come on. I coulda woulda shoulda tried common UN- and -ABLE since it was obviously an adjective, but didn’t; for some reason I fixated on -FUL long after it was time to move on.
Well done guys!
I bet some solvers got stuck on UPHILL. I did years ago the first time I saw that one in Jumble, but not today. There are gotcha six-letter Jumble words that begin or end in U-P (uproar, pileup, or 5-letter erupt), so it’s worth looking online at those lists, though of course U and P aren’t always adjacent (such as other potential gotcha “porous”).
David! Two minutes. Impressive. Yes, UPHILL got me stuck for a bit. I was doing dishes and it hit me — UPHILL! The solve took more than two minutes, for sure!!!! Thank goodness FLAP caught my eye.
Another grand puzzler!
Unc, gorgeous birds! I love cardinals!
Take care! LL
