“After being turned down by numerous publishers, he decided to write for posterity.” —George Ade
(Very humorous! Even though this isn’t The Jumble, Jeff Knurek might be interested to know that Mr. Ade was an Indiana boy . . . from Kentland! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Clue/Question: The replacement parts for the android – – –
Pre-Answer: Six Words (4-letters) (2-letters) (3-letters) (3-letters) (1-letter) (3-letters)
Answer: COST AN ARM AND A LEG
(This Jumble has a bit of a social commentary to it. Just look at the gut on the android owner! All of today’s clue words are old favorites. Five of the jumbles came up as new, with only “randog” having been used before. I almost had to back into “accuse”, but I was able to get it after “banana”. The answer letter layout was another Jumble masterpiece. It did not give anything away. It was the cartoon and its dialog that clues you into the answer. I think Zager & Evans were way too generous in their old song. The way things are heading, with Alexa, Siri and Cortana already here, self-driving cars right around the corner, we could – conceivably – see fully functioning androids by 2025. We can already pick our sons and daughters from the bottom of a long glass tube. And, we don’t really need to have husbands or wives anyway. For people not familiar with the song, you must be wondering what the heck I’m rambling about. I’ll post a link to the song below. The song, very ambitiously, tries to go out 10,000 years – AD, or CE – of man’s potential existence. But, the way things have been going, with the state the world is in today, I’d kind of be surprised if we even see the title year, 2525. I don’t mean to be such a downer, but heck, just pick up a newspaper and read about the disease of the moment, the rising temperatures and rising sea levels, what besmirched country is getting nukes next, and just the general – but ever increasing – man’s inhumanity to man! I don’t know about making it another 500 years, let alone 7500 more. Anyway, chew on that and . . . enjoy the rest of you Sunday, friends! LOL!) —YUR
“The seeds of resilience are planted in the way we process the negative events in our lives.” —Sheryl Sandberg
(And, we all have negative events in our lives. Just a little over two years ago Sheryl lost her husband, Dave Goldberg, from a freakish accident, caused by a cardiac arrhythmia. This quote likely has to do with how she persevered following this tragic loss. As the COO of Facebook, who also sits on numerous boards, she gets paid a lot, and is worth a ton! If I weren’t married, I wouldn’t mind asking her out! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Clue/Question: They lifted off to see the sunrise, but when the balloon would land was – – –
Answer: UP IN THE AIR
(Good thing this was a fairly obvious pun, or I might never have gotten “hiatus”. Well, maybe if I had written out a slew of possibilities, I probably would have gotten it. But, I’m too lazy for that. None of the clue words were new, and “gibee” has been used as a jumble before. The other three are new. The answer letter layout a very nifty jumble too. And, the cartoon looks like a Folgers commercial. Be well and do good, friends.) —YUR
