Visual Description: Landing right on the beach!
NPOYH = PHONY, LEHOL = HELLO, DIFELD = FIDDLE, GIXTAN = TAXING — Giving us: HONELLFDETAI
Clue/Question: After landing in Hawaii, they got the – – –
Answer: “LEI“ OF THE LAND
(A great figurative/literal pun! At least phonetically. We have another new clue word today, in “taxing”! More work for ralis95. His world famous database is growing exponentially. And, all of the jumbles came up new. The answer letter layout was a splendid jumble, but it couldn’t hide the answer. Not from yer uncle at least. The cartoon is a little strange. A landing ramp . . . on a beach? It doesn’t really work for either a cruise ship, nor an airplane. But, I like the volcanic land, reaching all the way to the ocean. And, is that a dolphin, or a whale, out in the water? Very cool. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Well it took me forever to get fiddle! Some days it just doesn’t work. But once gotten, solved the answer almost instantly. Keep me on my toes, yeah Unc!
That would be the airport at Kona on the Big Island, where my dad lives. It is on the water and ramps. It’s an outdoor airport. And that’s a whale. There you go.
It’s a breaching whale. (I specifically drew an arrow to it on my printout copy knowing you might mention it in your blog!) No sinking boat this time! I’m not sure what ramp you’re talking about. If it’s the one they’re standing on, at Hanauma Bay, there used to be a concrete pad at the uppermost reaches of the beach area. You step off of that onto the sand.
Just remember, Barb. I’m just a guy who posts these spoilers. It’s David L. Hoyt and Jeff Knurek who are the creators of these fun and challenging puzzles. They’re the sharks, and I’m more of a lamprey.

Live and learn! It looks like both Jeff and Damid are more well-traveled than yer uncle rave. I was leaning towards whale myself, but it was pretty small, and I guess it’s fairly common among all cetaceans. I was referring to the sloping structure in the lower left portion of the cartoon. It looks like a ramp/stairway of either an airplane, or a ship. Jeff explained that it is from an airport right on the water.
