Always be genuine.  People can sense when someone isn’t being themselves.”   —   Jeffree Star

(Despite being fairly certain that the T was the E, I had some difficulty in decoding this!  I couldn’t even see ISN’T for the longest time.  I did consider CAN’T, DON’T and WON’T, but I didn’t consider ISN’T, and I didn’t see it for a long time, even after realizing the words SENSE and BEING!  Part of it had to stem from the author’s name, which I never actually got on my own.  STAR did seem to be the most logical last name, and the unused letters did allow me to guess that the first name was JEFFREE.  Google confirmed my guess!  Interesting character.  And, reading about him goes a long way to explaining the quote, even though this has been expressed by many others over the years.  “Oh, baby baby, it’s a wild world!”  Vive la difference!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

You weren’t the only one, UR. I was pretty sure the first word was ALWAYS and the contraction ended in ’T, but even then I had to ponder. There was the unusual singular/plural clash between SOMEONE and THEMSELVES, and the odd spelling of the author’s first name. I had never heard of him, but learning about new authors is one of the perks of working the daily Cryp!

Yeah, hal. I was all ready to rip his/her parents for the “unique and individual” spelling of the name, until I realized it was a carefully chosen stage name, that played on his given name. I think the kid deserves a lot of credit.

I got the saying but not the author’s name. Oh, well…

I’ve prolly done, by a quick calculation, more than 4,500 cryptoquotes. Except for unusually spelled authors’ names, such as the above, they are getting a bit too easy sometimes. And that is because all the quotes are (supposedly) cute, clever, wise or witty sayings. You get a few words, then you are on your way. Y A W N

I think the cryptoquotes would be more challenging if they just plucked a sentence out of any book on any topic at random. Now that’ll separate the boys from the men. Or the girls from the women. What do you think?

LOL! Maybe, Samia. I think Rebecca tries to throw us a curve, every now and then. That’s why we occasionally get some of these nouveau celeb quotes. Quotes that don’t have THE or THAT in them, and don’t have a lot of words ending in E, are always a bit more challenging. I think it must be tough coming up with quotes that aren’t too trite, and might also present a challenge. And, some of the quotes she does use are a subset of a larger quote. Maybe, because I’m not all that literate, some of the quotes she’s given us do sound like they were plucked out of some random book. Maybe, if she secretly reads this blog, she’ll take you up on your suggestion!
