Clue/Question: The scuba-diving philosopher had – – –
Answer: DEEP THOUGHTS
(Either that, or it’s Jack Handy! Well, at least we’re seeing the end result of the classic sinking sailboat. And, whoever this is, I hope he fares better than Lou Gossett Jr. did in “The Deep”. Yikes!
No new clue words today, but all of the jumbles appear to be new. Largely annoying letter groupings, but that’s just me. The answer letter layout was profound. And, the cartoon is a dandy! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Umm, just noticed the pic of the female sitting on the boat, yeow! This is not a family blog? Hmmm
A still from the 1977 movie, which was rated PG, Barb. This is an all inclusive blog, although I do have a preference for the female form. I’ve used plenty of classical, and cheesecake, shots of beautiful women over the years. If you search through the archives you’ll see. I actually wanted the shot where the giant moray chomps down on Lou Gossett Jr.’s noggin, but it didn’t come up in my searches.

SPYRAT was a problem. I kept getting SPARTY, but I knew David wouldn’t do that to Jeff! 🙂
I must be getting old, Damid. I didn’t know “SPARTY” was a thing! — YUR
YUR, Michigan State Spartans, aka Sparty. Sparty is the mascot. Isn’t Jeff a UM alum? 🙂
Aaaah! That went right over my head, Damid. I was not aware that the dude carried the nickname. I mean it makes sense, but I just didn’t know it. You’re right though. Jeff IS a UM grad, and – naturally – is no fan of the cross state rivals. Does the UM mascot go by “Wolvie”??? I see these mascots on the sidelines, along with the cheer leaders, but don’t think of them – much – as having nicknames, other than whatever the team’s name is. So, is it “Bucky” the Buckeye? Lay some other college mascot nicknames on me, brother!

No, the Wolverine is just a wolverine. I think Brutus is the Buckeye mascot; Bucky might be Wisconsin (as in Bucky Badger). Seems to me that if the mascot is a character in a costume, then there’d likely be a nickname. Washington State U is the Cougars and there’s a guy in a cougar costume. His name is Butch, but that’s because we used to have a live cougar as a mascot. Eventually, the last one died and they went with the costume figure. It’s hard to know if a mascot actually has a separate name, or if it’s just the name of the team. But….
Here’s the Capital One Mascot Challenge roster for 2014 and 2013.

Note that Wilbur T. Wildcat of Arizona became Wilma T. Wildcat. 😀
Yeah.Don’t get me started on SPARTY. UM doesn’t have a mascot on the sidelines, thankfully. To be fair, I did donate a kidney to my “Sparty” cousin. So he does have a little wolverine in him, like it our not.
Yeah.
Awesome! Thanks, Damid.

wow Jeff. That is so awesome! LL
