Answer:  GOOD RIDDENTS

(Great stinky pun!  Best one in a while, I’d say.  No new clue words, today.  But, two of the jumbles came up as new.  We have seen both “tidot” and “ating” before.  Although, it did take me skipping, and coming back, to get “giant”.  I just wasn’t seeing it.  Then, the excellent answer letter layout had me stumped for a couple of minutes.  The quotation marks definitely helped!  Fine cartoon.  I just can’t make out much of the detail.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Spring beckons!  All things to the call respond; the trees are leafing and cashiers abscond.”   —   Ambrose Bierce

(I guess I just don’t get all 19th Century humor!  Maybe “cashiers” has another meaning?  Oh, well.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

As a general rule, if you are prone to melodramatic meltdowns, please avoid purchasing a webcam for any reason.”   —   Ray William Johnson

(A very 21st Century quote!  But, very sound advice nonetheless!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  WASTE OF ENERGY

(Ah!  I see besides a Steuben County in Southwestern New York, which I am fairly familiar with, there is also one in Indiana.  They both have a landfill, and they both have a gas to energy program.  Hopefully, most landfills do.  It’s a great idea.

There were no new clue words today, and only two of the jumbles came up as new.  They have used both “emaco” and “yegres” in the past.  I almost went “greesy” again, before remembering that it would be “greasy”.  The answer letter layout made for a beautiful jumble.  Great cartoon, showing the garbage trucks, the bulldozer, the gulls, gas collection pipes, the kids and the foreman.  It looks like the little girl brought her own bag of garbage!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Cryptoquote Spoiler – 05/24/17

Image result for mignon mclaughlin

Puritans will never believe it, but life is full of disagreeable things that aren’t even good for you.”   —   Mignon McLaughlin

(Very funny!  I’m always so surprised when I see that she is a she.  I guess I’m just not familiar with it, as a name, and I just assume it’s a man.  The only context that I know the word is in filet mignon, which I just always knew as a delicious – and expensive – cut of beef!  I wish our country could overcome its Puritan roots.  Socially, we’re still so archaic in our thinking.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The past is really almost as much a work of the imagination as the future.”   —   Jessamyn West

(The victors always want their stories told . . . just so.  The vanquished know the truth, but few people bother listening to . . . the losers.  Don’t accept all you’re told at face value, friends.  Dig a little.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night; but ah, my foes, and oh, my friends – it gives a lovely light.”   —   Edna St. Vincent Millay

(Out of context, this sounds both noble . . . and silly, at the same time.  I hope some poetry buff can shed a lovely light on this quote!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  REPOSSESSED

(Good groaner of a movie pun!  No new clue words, but three of the jumbles came up as new.  We have seen “surevs” before.  The answer letter layout was a nice jumble too.  I didn’t pick up on the movie angle until I read the clue/question.  The name Regan rang a bell, but I knew this wasn’t King Lear!  Although, she could be pretty scary herself!  Nice cartoon.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
