Clue/Question: For the purse-snatcher, getting caught was – – –
Answer: HARD TO TAKE
(I think this guy is becoming Jeff’s standard bad guy. We saw him just recently in the one where he was pulled over for speeding, or something. He looks a little like Bono to me, with the wrap-around sunglasses. Hey! Guess what? We actually have another new clue word today, in “halve”. The world famous clue word database, of ralis95, does have halved, but not “halve”. But, very soon . . . it will. All of today’s jumbles are coming up as new too. And, “allow” is one of those words that spells out in alphabetical order. I thought that the answer letter layout was tremendously cryptic. Not a simple solve, by any means. Cool cartoon. Is that subway tracks? Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Another possibility using that word would be HALVES. Great work, Dave, expanding the constricted JUMBLE vocabulary!
I had to back into Halve; I was doing all the combos and Halve just didn’t come to me. Even backing into it the word didn’t come easily; guess that’s the thing about new clue words. But I was able to get the answer with just the other letters. 🙂
