Clue/Question: The chemists ate lunch every day at the – – –
Answer: PERIODIC TABLE
(That’s a good, stinky pun. Like Ammonium sulfide! No new clue words today, but three new jumbles. Hoyt has used “tarreh” before. The answer letter layout was pretty awesome. Too bad the cartoon gave away the answer, with the PERIODIC TABLE hanging right there on the wall. I don’t think that *bonus clue* was necessary. The clue/question and the cartoon’s convo was enough to solve it. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Once, many years ago (obviously!), a philosophy class I was in got booted out of the quad and into the chemistry/library building. There was a large periodic table on the wall of our new room. The professor, who was a bit of a cutup, casually asked how everybody liked the new antiseptic digs. I said they were fine, with only one problem: “We’ve got no protection from the elements.” I now suspect it was something of a setup from Professor C, but everybody groaned in appreciation!
Well, had I known that was the periodic table on the wall!!! But no problem! Unjumbled the clue words quickly, saw TABLE immediately–then PERIODIC came to mind and it worked!!!
Great puzzle!
Hey to all…LL
Well, I got stumped. Though the ODI clue letters should have started something for me. But it didn’t. Even with the poster on the wall, and the guy at the table saying he needed NaCl….. 🙂
I am always so surprised when people find a puzzle difficult when I thought it was obvious! There was an above average number of queries yesterday. — YUR
