Clue/Question: When children played with their new Slinky toys in April of 1946, it was – – –
Answer: SPRINGTIME
(Another great literal/figurative pun! I think they’re fun. There were no new clue words for this day. Three of the jumbles did come up as new though. Hoyt has used “pideme” in the past. The answer letter layout was a cryptic jumble too. The cartoon is another one of Knurek’s great period pieces. It could have come right out of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Although, the mom looks a little like Audrey Meadows, to me. The tire swing, hanging from the tree in the background, is a nice touch. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Such a fun reminder of Slinkys!!! Hard to believe the answer puzzled me. I was looking for an ING word (and yes, I know SPRING ends in ING as my husb pointed out, but y’all know what I mean). That search blocked me. Then I saw TIME—-lawdy — SPRINGTIME!!! The guyz keep upping their game!
