Visual Description: What “Flat Earthers” dispute.
DOMUN = MOUND, SWNHO = SHOWN, TIMSAG = STIGMA, PONCAY = CANOPY — Giving us: MONSONGMAAOY
Clue/Question: The last time humans walked on the lunar surface, it was – – –
Answer: MANY MOONS AGO
(Another brilliant pun! There were no new clue words today, but three of the jumbles are coming up as new. We’ve definitely seen “timsag” before. The answer letter layout was a beautifully crafted, and cryptic jumble. Nothing obvious about it. The cartoon is reminiscent of the Space Race hey day. The answer itself became kind of a Western movie cliché, but Native Americans, and many many indigenous people, did/do mark time by phases of the moon. Even many religious calendars are based on phases of the moon, instead of our quasi-static calendar. Indigenous people have a greater respect for their environment than our so-called “civilized” societies. They rely on it more. They are part of it, so they know its importance, better than most of the rest of us. We recognize Earth Day once a year, but they observe it every day. Let us strive to be more observant, on a daily basis. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

He talks about the drawing and you can watch him draw it from beginning to end. He doesn’t reveal the answer, so you’ll still need to play the puzzle in the newspaper tomorrow!
