20 Ways to Show the Earth Love this Earth Day

Timely . . . and true! — YUR

So unless you have been living under a rock or are one of those crazy fools who hates the planet. (Kidding, not kidding.) Anyway, you may be aware that the planet like most of us has been under a lot of stress lately.

As is true with yourself when going through a difficult time it is important to take a break and show yourself some much-needed self-love. However, how can a planet show itself some self-love? Well if you are looking at the cause of its stress as the life sucking invaders which is the human race then I would imagine some TLC would consist of decreasing the number of invaders. Maybe through mass extinction?

Just a thought.

Any way to avoid an apocalyptic movie turned to reality and harming our precious host any further than we already have I think it is imperative that we do as much as we…

Cryptoquote Spoiler – 04/21/17

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.”   —   Terry Pratchett

(I think cat lovers kinda like being subservient to their . . . masters!  I grew up with both cats and dogs, and love them both.  But dogs don’t claw the furniture, or curtains.  And, I’d rather walk my dog three or four times a day, than have to deal with a litter box!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  MANY MOONS AGO

(Another brilliant pun!  There were no new clue words today, but three of the jumbles are coming up as new.  We’ve definitely seen “timsag” before.  The answer letter layout was a beautifully crafted, and cryptic jumble.  Nothing obvious about it.  The cartoon is reminiscent of the Space Race hey day.  The answer itself became kind of a Western movie cliché, but Native Americans, and many many indigenous people, did/do mark time by phases of the moon.  Even many religious calendars are based on phases of the moon, instead of our quasi-static  calendar.   Indigenous people have a greater respect for their environment than our so-called “civilized” societies.  They rely on it more.  They are part of it, so they know its importance, better than most of the rest of us.  We recognize Earth Day once a year, but they observe it every day.  Let us strive to be more observant, on a daily basis.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Do you want to watch a video of the amazingly talented artist Jeff Knurek drawing tomorrow’s Jumble cartoon? Then check out his new video on @playjumble on Twitter at the link below. He talks about the drawing and you can watch him draw it from beginning to end. He doesn’t reveal the answer, so you’ll still need to play the puzzle in the newspaper tomorrow!
