Visual Description: Even pirates gotta pay.
FUTSF = STUFF, RULTY = TRULY, TARMET = MATTER, CEERTJ = REJECT — Giving us: SURYARET
Clue/Question: To collect taxes, the pirate government started a – – –
Answer: TREASURY
(An appropriate tax day Jumble! A little too literal maybe. Maybe that’s because the IRS doesn’t have a sense of humor??? Well, there were no new clue words today. I think Hoyt pays a tax on new clue words. However, three of the jumbles came up as new, with only “futsf” having been used earlier. None of them tripped me up any. The answer letter layout was a little weak today. It starts out with SURY, which – obviously – is the second half of the answer word. Switching the order of “FUTSF” and “RULTY” would have prevented this . . . heinous offense to our purist sensibilities! LOL! The cartoon is great though. With the nerdy pirate accountant, with vest and gathered sleeves, half glasses, and a pencil behind his ear! Did they have pencils back then??? There is also a quill pen on the bench/table. Not quite sure, but I believe, instead of the classic sinking sailboat, we have a sinking pirate ship on the horizon. Lots of fun. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
