Pre-Answer: Three Words (4-letters) (3-letters) (7-letters)

Answer: PULL ANY PUNCHES
(A classic Jumble pun! I’m always a fan of Jeff’s sports related cartoons, but especially the boxing ones, which always put me in mind of the old Grin and Bear It panels, by George Lichty. He also did a lot more than boxers; politicians, slackers, marriage councilors, bad drivers, smart-mouthed kids, battered husbands, etc., but I always loved the boxer ones! I was really sad when the newspapers finally stopped running them. And, wouldn’t you know, Google Images doesn’t seem to have any of the boxer ones! Oh, well.
All old favorite clue words today. Five of the jumbles appear to be new, with only “ogatue” definitely having been used before. It’s a great jumble though. I also liked “tenyin”. It made me think of entity for a second, or two. The answer letter layout was an admirable jumble. It did a fine job of disguising the answer. But, the Champeenship Belt goes to today’s cartoon! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
