(This one had me puzzled for a minute or two.  The goldfish, both in the cartoon and in the dialog, were a bit distracting.  The excellent answer letter layout hid the answer very nicely.  We appear to have a new clue word today, in “cross”!  The ralis95 clue word database has across, but not “cross”.  Hoyt may have used it previously, but I may have missed it in checking earlier versions of the database.  If so, I apologize for any oversight.  But, our good friend can safely add it to his world famous database now!  All of today’s jumbles are coming up as new.  The cartoon is a nice send-up to one of the guy’s favorite magicians, Mac King.  Beware of pranksters today!  If it comes from your child, or grandchild, you may want to play along with it, just to let them think they got you!  Don’t take any wooden nickels, Carl.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
