Answer: MIDDLE–AGES
(They should be so lucky, to live so long! Especially, in their chosen careers. Our faithful Sirs, David and Jeff, have bestowed upon us a most excellent Jumble. Whilst all the clue words were true and blue, their jumbled words are clad in a fresh newness. The answer letter layout was both valiant and gallant. It chivalrously kept the answer discreet. This looks good too, “Gilded-seam” was my first guess. But it was not related to plate armour.
Might work for another puzzle, Carl! Although, I think it WOULD have to be a more obscure, less punny, kind of an answer. Can you come up with a context in which “Gilded-seam” would work?

That is before I realized the answer was “Middle-ages”. Gilded-seam (or gold-woven), before noticing this blog that I was wrong. Good puzzle though.
As for context, not very experienced with puns; “seam” is probably a college word.
