Clue/Question: With the success of the 707, the Boeing Company had – – –
Answer: SOARING PROFITS
(“Off we go into the wild blue yonder, Climbing high into the sun.” I think Jeff always wanted to be a jet pilot! It’s not too late, at least to be a regular pilot. I bet he could even afford a small plane . . . that Mr. Bigshot! LOL! There were no new clue words today, but two of the jumbles came up as new. We’ve seen both “goubs” and “storyf” before. Not that it’s a new word, but I can remember when I first heard the word “bogus” . . . and I thought somebody had just made the word up! The answer letter layout was both big and beautiful. It did a very nice job of hiding the 14 letter answer. I also remember when the first 747s came out. Everyone was pretty much in awe of the Jumbo Jet, with its double-deck. I’ve only flown in them a few times. Usually for international flights. It seems they’re not used as much for simple domestic flights. They are still very impressive. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Interesting… I had the answer as PROFITS SOARING… both work, but I wonder which way Jeff had the answer.
I think it’s more David. He’s the word guy! We’ll see in the morning, Rit.

I wondered about that, too. I wrote out PROFITS SOARING, but obviously it could go either way …
Both answers work but I feel the wording of the clue slightly favors SOARING PROFITS. I noticed that both fit and would work but my intent was SOARING PROFITS. That’s the scoop from Puzzle Central. Thanks for playing and for give us such fun jobs!
Another 14 letter one! Felt lost for a few moments but then separated out the ….ing portion. After that it was easier. The cartoon clues were very helpful as usual. Take care Unc, see ya tomorrow!
Aaayy! Does yer uncle know his nephews . . . or what? — YUR 😉
I went with soaring profits, but for any particular reason. Probably have seen that more. And probably saw that answer first. If I’d seen it in reverse, I might would have gone that way!! Interesting! LL
