Sunday Jumble Spoiler – 02/19/17

Image result for fishing from a rowboat

Visual Description:  Forgetful weekend fishermen, making do with what they’ve got.

CIPTAM  =  IMPACT,  HAACTT  =  ATTACH,  EKCLOT  =  LOCKET,  KAHENS  =  SHAKEN,  CITFEN  =  INFECT,  CICNLI  =  CLINIC   —   Giving us:  ACAAHCTSHANCTCC

Clue/Question:  The fishermen didn’t have fishing poles and they lacked proper bait, so it was – – –

Pre-Answer:  Four Words   (5-letters)-(2-letters)-(5-letters)-(3-letters)

Answer:  CATCH-AS-CATCH-CAN

(This guy has got a little McGyver in him!  Nice pun.  There were no new clue words today.  However, all of the jumbles, other than “ciptam”, are new today.  My initial reaction to “haactt” was that it was thatch, even though there were two As and only one H.  That mistake stuck in my head, and prevented me from seeing “attach” for a little while.  I didn’t have to back into it, or anything, but I had to skip it and come back to it, after getting the others.  The answer letter layout was pretty good, but because of all the As and Cs and Ts, and the clue/question, I didn’t have any problem getting the answer.  The cartoon is a great outdoor scene.  Did you notice the name of the little motorized rowboat?  It’s why I’m using today’s picture.  It’s from 1954, and The Jumble started in 1954.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  The third jumble is REPEN.  That should help you get the answer!     YUR

Before I read your footnote, I was (unsuccessfully) trying to unscramble KEPEN, KEFEN, REFEN, all dead ends! So, my time was nothing to PREEN about. Thanks for digging up that truly vintage Jumble, UR. The artwork then was sheer simplicity.

I flew though this entire puzzle! FUN! I can’t read name of boat. What is it?

Try as I might, I cannot make out what is on the side of the boat!!! I can see the 54 and some letters. I thought it might be JUMBL, but I”m pretty sure that is not right. I got the answer to your puzzler in a puzzler — DURING–??

You have to admire those fisherman. They were going to have a good time and figured it out!! And that is probably how lots of our greats and great grands fished when they were boys!

    Another grand puzzler !!!

    Take are all…LL

I solved the Jumble easily enough, but what is the pun in the final answer? I don’t get it.
