Visual Description:  Kitchen table convo.

ERVAB  =  BRAVE,  USDOK  =  KUDOS,  CENTHS  =  STENCH,  YETLIV  =  LEVITY   —   Giving us:  RAEUOSSTCHETY

Clue/Question:  She wanted to drop Science, but her parents advised her to – – –

Answer:  STAY THE COURSE

(A very popular phrase, especially with Republican Presidents, starting with Reagan.  George H. W. Bush picked up the phrase and kind of ran it into the ground, as it was a large part of Dana Carvey’s parody of him on Saturday Night Live.  Dubya used it for a while when describing his Iraq “strategy”, but they dropped it in 2006 when most of the country just wanted our butts out of there.

None of the clue words were new, but all of the jumbles were.  Both “usdok” and “cenths” were fairly challenging to me.  The answer letter layout was a real nifty jumble.  I didn’t think that it gave anything away.  Lots of good verbal clues in the cartoon, that was also a nice family scene!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Two of today’s words gave me pause, UR! I COMMEND Dave & Jeff with LIGHTHEARTEDNESS, if that gives you any idea which two …

Loved the pun!. KUDOS and LEVITY took a second or two each (the latter used to be in my “toughest words” list, as has now moved to the “tough words” list), but the other two words were instant. For the final answer, I first guessed that the second word was HER (because of the word “She” in the clue), but when I realized that STAY was the first word, the answer became apparent: STAY THE COURSE.

Thanks for all the time, energy and enthusiasm you put into your solver. After solving the jumble, I look forward to seeing what you have to say.

LEVITY was the only jumble that gave me pause, as I wasn’t sure how it was spelled. But it fit the answer, so I guess it was right! 🙂

Dittos to Jess.. I so enjoy popping in and reading your thoughts, UR, seeing what everyone has to say, (the ‘regulars’ are kinda like a Jumble version of ‘Cheers’), and if anyone else had a word to add to the ‘dreaded #!*!!*#! toughie word list’, etc..it’s a real bright spot in my day!
