“Maybe who we are isn’t so much about what we do, but rather what we’re capable of when we least expect it.” — Jodi Picoult
(I’d buy that! Let me tell you guys, when you try to do these without the newspaper, or a print out, and you’re very tired, it ain’t easy. But, I got there. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

LEEGA = EAGLE, POMOH = OOMPH, BLINEB = NIBBLE, SPYMIK = SKIMPY — Giving us: ELEOHNLSP
Clue/Question: To close deals, a good real estate salesperson needs a – – –
Answer: “SELL“ PHONE
(Not bad. A little stinky, but okay. No new clue words today, but three of the jumbles did come up as new. They’ve definitely used “pomoh” before. The jumble for “eagle” actually gave me some trouble. I kept – erroneously – thinking “alege”, but I knew that was wrong. It took a while to see the “eagle”. The answer letter layout was swell, but the quotation marks were a huge clue. Fine cartoon. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS. I may miss a few days for a while. Hafta travel for a funeral, and also for a terminally ill relative. You might get tomorrows, if I can manage it. Peace. — YUR
Let’s pressure President Obama to call off this construction . . . for the sake of the people, their sacred ground, and the water. — YUR
Most Americans spent Thanksgiving blissfully, which was great, but oblivious to what’s going on in North Dakota, which isn’t. There, 300 tribes of the sixth-largest Native American reservation, are blocking construction of a pipeline that may poison the entire region’s water.
About 4,000 supporters are congregated in the area, and tensions with law enforcement are rising. Despite freezing temperatures, on Nov. 20th, police doused protesters with water canons, causing injuries, and was accused of throwing a grenade that blew up an activist’s arm.
Making matters worst, on Friday the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has told the Standing Rock Sioux that from Dec. 5 on, it’ll block access to the area north of the Cannonball River, which it claims to be ‘Corps-managed land, so ‘to prevent death, illness, or serious injury to inhabitants,’ due to harsh winter conditions. Which would be nice…

“How can you know what you’re capable of if you don’t embrace the unknown?” — Esmeralda Santiago
(This is our first quote from Ms. Santiago, since I’ve been posting these spoilers. She is a stroke survivor, so I’d say she has definitely embraced the unknown. Life is certainly fleeting. Might as well live each day like it may be your last, because it very well might be. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

CFOLK = FLOCK, UNVEE = VENUE, SENLOS = LESSON, GLIBRE = GERBIL — Giving us: FVEESSERL
Clue/Question: The tennis balls at the courts were – – –
Answer: SELF–SERVE
(Not bad, for a Monday. Very surprisingly, we have a new clue word today, in “flock”. Who would’ve thought that such a common word could have avoided the Jumble all this time? Our good friend, ralis95, will have to update his world famous clue word database once again! I hope he picked up on yesterday’s new word as well. The jumble “senlos” gave me pause, but I figured it out, and it has actually been used before. I was a bit impatient, and backed in to “gerbil”. No pun intended. The answer letter layout was swell, but even without the ERL I was able to figure out the answer. The great cartoon really made getting the answer pretty easy. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
“Behind every successful man stands a surprised mother-in-law.” — Hubert Humphrey
(Hubie was very good with the clever quips. I always struggle with the Cryptoquote in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle. They only carry it on Sundays. Instead of being more horizontal, like a normal newspaper would run it, it’s very vertical, with two words on top of one word, on top of two words, on top of the hyphenated word, that starts out on one line and ends up on another. Very annoying. And, in general, their editor just doesn’t seem to have much respect for the puzzles they run. Or the comics, for that matter. They’re all the reduced sized ones, and they’re too many, crammed on to two pages. They should either get rid of a few of the more irrelevant – in my opinion – ones, or spring for a third page. In my opinion, newspapers are failing because of poor editors, as much as anything else. How’s that for an extraneous rant? LOL. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

BLINEM = NIMBLE, RIJNEU = INJURE, HYRUGN = HUNGRY, NRIEWN = WINNER, TPRIMO = IMPORT, GUDHEG = HUGGED — Giving us: IEINHNWIMOHGG
Clue/Question: His lack of success dieting and exercising was – – –
Pre-Answer: Three Words – (8-letters) (2-letters) (3-letters)
Answer: WEIGHING ON HIM
(For me, the biggest problem is realizing that I’m not a kid anymore . . . and that my metabolism ain’t what it used to be! Moderation was always my go to buzz-word, but there comes a time when you need to make some more significant changes. Some guys don’t seem to have any problems with weight. I guessed you’d have to say that they are blessed.
Hey, guess what?! We actually have a new clue word today. Yes, “hugged” will need to be added to the ralis95 – world famous – clue word database! Somebody better wake the boss, because he rarely looks at the Sunday Spoilers. LOL! Every single jumble came up as new today. That’s a little unusual. None of them gave me any trouble though. The answer letter layout was a nicely cryptic jumble. The excellent cartoon set up the Jumble very well. The chubby hubby, on the bathroom scale, with a look of despair. And, his loving wife, trying to take his mind off his woes. Nice job. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Visual Description: Planting the seeds – and saplings – of progress.
DORWL = WORLD, NUSYN = SUNNY, TICATN = INTACT, GILGEG = GIGGLE — Giving us: ORDUNNINAGIGG
Clue/Question: When the plant nursery bought more land, they were this on their competition.
Answer: GAINING GROUND
(Excellent literal/figurative pun! All of today’s clue words are old favorites again. However, all the jumbles came up as new. I was able to get them all immediately. The answer letter layout was great, but with all the repeating Gs and Ns the answer was pretty evident. Nowhere’s near as tough as yesterdays! I’m still getting plenty of queries on that one today. Top notch cartoon, as usual. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
