Visual Description: Majestic jet.
VANLA = NAVAL, NAPAD = PANDA, TROYSM = STORMY, TALYLE = LATELY — Giving us: NAAPDSYLAE
Clue/Question: They parked the new 747 jet in clear view so people could see it – – –
Answer: “PLANE“ AS DAY
(Oh, that’s a beautiful stinker of a pun! I remember when they first came out with these. I was about 11 years old, and they were a huge sensation. A two-story jet plane that was roomy and comfortable. Most definitely NOT like flying today. Today, the airlines are nothing but a bunch of money-grubbing fascists. I love to travel, and I use to love to fly, but I just don’t have the patience to put up with the indignity of the entire industry. Simply put, I despise these colluding leeches. I don’t believe in Hell, but if there was one, I’d wish that they all burn in it. Be like sheep, if you want, but I’m done with their crap. And now, on to the Jumble.
No new clue words today, but three of the jumbles were new. They’ve definitely used “napad” before. I really liked “troysm”. The answer letter layout stumped me for about 10 seconds. The quotation marks were what got me on the right flight path. Great cartoon of the Seattle/Everett area. Is that a Jumbo jet, or a Jumble jet? Lot’s of fun! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Taking my time was the key today. The last two jumbles were a bit tough, but I just put it aside and came back later. When I did, they came to me quickly. Once I got all the letters, I got the short words first, then rewriting the remaining letters solved it.
YUR, my Dad belonged to an engineer’s association, and he signed us up to tour the Boeing factory where they were working on the 747. This was in Everett, and it was probably 1968 as production hadn’t started yet. It was an evening tour, and we saw one of the test prototypes on the floor. I was about 10 at the time, so a lot of it went over my head. Still, it was an interesting trip, though I don’t recall a lot of it.
That is so cool, Damid! I would’ve loved to been on that tour! — YUR
It was a good jumble, but I made the last word talley, which threw off my answer. But I figured out the answer, so went back looking for my E. Finally got the word lately, which was correct.
NAVAL was in my “toughest words” list and STORMY in the “tougher words” list, but I got them both instantly. LATELY, on the other hand, took me a few seconds. I got the final answer quickly because I almost instantly saw PLANE. Very nice!
And yes, Deb, I initially guessed TALLEY too!!!
