Clue/Question: Though smaller, the carpenter was better than his larger co-worker – – –
Answer: POUND FOR POUND
(This pun really hit the nail on the head! The guys really did a bang up job today! All of today’s clue words are old favorites, but all of the jumbles came up as new. The five letter clue words I saw instantly, but the six letter clue words were pretty challenging. I kept wanting PODIUM to be IMPOUND! The needed letter groupings in the clue words couldn’t be knocked! The answer letter layout looks like it could be a strange word, or name. And, if the clue/question were worded differently, and the answer was only two words – of eight letters and five letters – the answer could have been PROFOUND POUND. The guys could hammer out a whole new Jumble, by recycling this some! Go ahead guys, and take a whack at it. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
You nailed this, UR!
UNDONE was the only word that wasn’t instant, and even that took maybe a second. PODIUM used to be in my “tough words” list, but is no longer there. I saw the final answer right away, too, although I kept mistyping. Nice pun!
The clue words I got pretty quickly. As for the answer, for something like this, I try to solve the short word(s) first. Then I look at the remaining letters and try to make sense of them. So once I got the FOR, the remaining letters sorta fell into place….
