Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.”   —   Stanley Horowitz

(Dead?  Alive?  I could find no real bio on the guy, except that it looks like he came from an Australian publishing family.  Wikipedia drops the second O in his name.  If he is still alive it looks like he’d be 95 or 96 years old.  It’s a great quote though.  Someone in his family should put out a bio on him!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

My name is Stanley Horowitz. I am the author of Winter Is An Etching. I wrote it for the Reader’s Digest in 1983 for $50. In 2016 the Digest returned all rights to me. I wrote other famous quotes for them like, “Nothing lowers the level of conversation more than raising the voice,” and “Worry is a fast getaway on a wooden horse.” Please do not publish my email address or give it out. Thank you, Stanley Horowitz

    Mr. Horowitz,

I am honored that you have chosen to visit my humble blog. And, I’m so glad to hear that you are still with us. Was I correct in writing that you are well into your 90s? Do not worry about your email address. It is safe with me, sir. I hope you are of good health and spirits. Feel free to visit and comment on any of my postings!
    Regards,
    Uncle Rave

Uncle Rave, I am very happy to hear from you. That photograph is not me. It is a different Stanley Horowitz. I am 75 years old. I am disabled and use a walker. If you need any further information, please let me know. I still have a copy of the check from the Digest purchasing my poem. February 26, 2018 will mark the poem’s 18th anniversary on the Internet. It is one of the most widely published poems in cyberspace. Regards, Stanley

I’m glad that you’re not as old as I earlier thought, Stanley. This way you’ve still got more years ahead of you! I liked the line from your poem. I’d like read the entire poem. Maybe even post it here. — YUR

My poem is an 18 word micro-poem or poem-ette:
    “Winter is an etching,
    Spring a watercolor,
    Summer an oil painting and
Autumn a mosaic of them all”
I used succinct metaphor to meet the Digest’s word limitation.
    Regards, Stanley
