Answer:  ACQUIRED TASTE

(Kinda strange, buying a restaurant where you’re not crazy for the food.  But, anything for the sake of the pun!  No new clue words.  Three of the jumbles came up as new, with “fardt” having been used sometime in the past.  Great answer letter layout, but anything with a QU kinda makes solving the answer pretty easy.  Fun Cartoon.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Brilliant pun, and a wonderful answer letter layout, making this one of the toughest – and best – Jumbles of the year for me. The first three words came to me instantly, but for the fourth word, I kept thinking SQUAW. Obviously, there was an extra letter. I had never heard of SQUAWK, so I just stared at the jumble for nearly half a minute. It was clearly QUA— or SQUA–. Finally, I tried SQUAWK and it worked! For the final answer, I was stuck for another minute. I tried CRATE for the second word and guessed that the first word ended in ED. Obviously QU had to come together as well. ANTIQUATED came to mind, but that required more letters than available. At that point, it just occurred to me that the first word was ACQUIRED, and the pun became evident. Loved solving this Jumble!

On another note, is it necessary for the new owners to keep the old recipes?

Only if the restaurant is known and loved for certain dishes. Would be stupid to do away with something that is so popular! — YUR

The answer to this one stumped me. Got the words easy enough though.

I had the waitress asking the couple if they wanted, “the usual?” to drive the point that people kept coming for what the restaurant already made. There you go.

I got why the customers were there. I just thought it strange that the new owner would buy a restaurant, and have to *get used to* the food. I don’t think I’d buy a place that served food that I wasn’t all that crazy about, even if it was popular with other people. I know business is business, but satisfying MY palate would have to be a key consideration. — YUR

I only got this one because I realized that the first word had to start with a vowel. Without that, I’d still be stumped, I think!

I like the looks of the restaurant in the picture.

I, too, think it a tad strange that the new owners seemed clueless/didn’t much care for the food. Guess they saw a good thing to invest in, but still a bit odd!!!

    And, I got it!! LL
