(Palooka power! Not bad! There actually was a new clue word today, in “equal”. Such a simple word. But, our good friend, ralis95, will have to add it to his world famous clue word database. And, it looks like all of the jumbles are coming up as new. The answer letter layout was swell. I like our hero’s crooked/broken nose. Nice touch, Jeff. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
A nice, simple one to start the week! All the words came to me rather quickly today.
I loved to watch Boog Powell. When I’d go Indians games, people would yell, “Boooog!” My father would have to tell me that they weren’t booing him. What a great name.
Growing up in Rochester, NY, in the 60’s and 70’s, our Triple A affiliate was the Rochester Red Wings. Back then we were the top farm team for the Orioles, and most of us were big Oriole’s fans! Boog was the best to cheer for! Big guy, big bat, great name! The affiliation ended with the 2002 season, and since 2003 the Red Wings have been the Twins AAA farm team. The newspapers and television used to always highlight the Orioles, like we were the same city! But, when they switched to the Twins – and to this very day even – they cover the friggin’ Yankees, like we’re their farm team! Pisses me off. Why not the Twins? The idea always used to be to follow the prospects from the Minors to the Bigs, but not anymore. The Rochester media jumped on the Yankee bandwagon as thought they’re the Home team! I think it’s pretty pathetic, because even if Rochester thinks “Hey, we’re all New Yorkers!”, people in NYC think Rochester is . . . Canada! Rockland and Westchester counties are “Upstate”, and anything beyond that might as well be Canada, to them. Don’t tell Rochester that the joke is on them! LOL!

There’s another Boog Powell in the league; he’s now in the Mariners organization, minor leagues. He got suspended for PEDs this year, 80 games.
He was previously in the A’s organization and got to the parent club for some games. He showed up at Comerica Park for a game vs the Tigers, and Kirk Gibson was doing the TV commentary. His take was ‘Who are we kidding here’, and ‘Is this for real?’ 😀
Nice anecdotes, guys! I solved this in 9 seconds, but only FROSTY was instant!!!
