VRUCE  =  CURVE,  OMESO  =  MOOSE,  CADFEE  =  DEFACE,  SLAYGS  =  GLASSY   —   Giving us:  REMDALA

Clue/Question:  Crime was on the rise and some people were becoming – – –

Answer:  ALARMED

(Just kidding!  But fear, and the promise of “security” are increasingly big sellers these days.  And, if you give in to all the hype, as so many of us are wont to do, you let this fear take too much control of your life.  Do you want to keep the bad guys away from your home?  Get yourself a serious dog.  Not a yapper, but a real woofer.  And . . . try to keep him/her a little underfed!

We have a new clue word today, in “glassy”.  Our good friend, ralis95, is going to have to take a break from fighting those California wildfires, and update his world famous database!  All of today’s jumbles are coming up as new as well.  The answer letter layout was fine, but I don’t think anyone struggled very much to solve today’s Jumble.  Appropriately domestic cartoon.  Be well, don’t let fear rule your life, and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

UR, every time you say “I don’t think anyone struggled very much to solve today’s Jumble”, I struggle to solve the Jumble!!! It’s my own fault, today, though. I read the clue statement and, for some reason, felt that the answer should end in ER. That, of course led me nowhere. Finally, I read the discussion in the cartoon (and saw the image), and then it was clear that the answer was ALARMED. Very poor on my part. I had a little trouble with GLASSY, and I typed in MOUSE at first, until I saw that there were two Os.

Seems you struggle with what I consider the easy ones, and easily get the ones I consider tough!

Hard to believe we’ve never had GLASSY before! As to the third word, it takes me a second or two to pick out DEFACE or FACADE.

We’re two peas in a pod, hal. My first thought was FACADE, but I quickly noticed the two Es, instead of two As. Plus, we have had FACADE pretty recently. Repeats aren’t unheard of, but DEFACE came next to immediately.

Good point, Hal. I have this issue with FACADE/DEFACE as well, although I think I got DEFACE immediately in this case.
