Answer: BRUSH UP ON IT
(Semi-coincidence! My son came over to do his laundry, and we were talking at the kitchen table. I never know how any subject comes up when I’m talking to him, because his mind moves so quickly, but he makes a comment about Bob Ross painting the same damn painting every time! I had to laugh, and kind of disagree with him that it wasn’t the exact same painting. My son was about 8 when Bob Ross died, so I don’t even really know in what context my son knows him! I told him that because his PBS show was an instructional painting show, he did pretty much have to go with a central theme, so people following – and, presumably painting – could keep up. My son insisted that every one of his paintings has mountains, and trees, and a river or creek. I just kind of laughed it off. But, as I Googled Bob Ross paintings, and clicked on Images, I see that the first 11 of 12 paintings have all those components! My son can drive me crazy, but he’s funny as hell, and usually right!
No new clue words today, and only “duneu” has been used before. The other three jumbles are new. We just had “sushi” just last week! Kind of like the reverse of that Matthew McConaughey commercial where he’s driving his dogs around, and he’s asking them where they should go for dinner. They want barbecue . . . again, but he pulls species rank on them. Hey, Matt! Most dogs don’t dig cooked fish, let alone raw fish! Anyway, the answer letter layout was a superb jumble. And, the cartoon is very clever. In the upper right hand corner is another student, poking his head around his easel! It looks like they’re all painting a pineapple, wine bottle, apple and a banana. Lots of fun. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Yes, we had SUSHI just last week, but still, I had to think a couple of seconds to get it! For the final answer, I initially thought it was BRUSH UP TO IT. However, there was a N left over and not a T. BRUSH UP TO IN made no sense (neither did BRUSH UP TO IT, but I was clearly not thinking straight). Finally, after a few seconds, it dawned on me: BRUSH UP ON IT. Duh!
I thought we had seen sushi pretty recently. I got it right away but I had trouble with it before. Glad you are back Unc!
Thanks a bunch, Joe Key! — YUR
I had the most trouble with ABRUPT. HOOPLA didn’t come easy either, had to walk away and come back. I did notice when I did, I picked a different combo of first letters, the HO, and that broke it. Earlier, I picked different letters to start.
I like the Still Life picture that’s on top, might make a good wallpaper.
Hey! I was having trouble with the 7/21 jumble answer today (8/23) …fortunately, I figured out the clue words in mostly short order. I asked the husb to find the jumbler blog so that he could make sure I had correctly unjumbled the clue words and that I had the correct letters to solve the puzzler. As y’all know my paper does get a bit confused sometimes.
So, I’m looking at the puzzler comic to see what date the husb needed to look up. Well, this particular puzzler ahs the date of 9/21 to the right of the llittle three drawer table. So, I’m thinking that a puzzler from last year had actually shown up in my stack of my unsolved puzzlers. Strange, but not unheard of around here. BUT, the husb went to the 7/21 blog and found all the information there! I had it all correct, and a bit later solved the puzzler.
Strange!!! And I figure, as history serves, my paper didn’t get it quite right–again!
So many grand puzzlers I’ve worked through. Still far behind, but that’s OK!
Well, my post sent…I guess, my screen flipped and everything went away! And my little green figure has disappeared! Guess that is what happens when you aren’t too regular!! 🙂
