Jumble Spoiler – 07/19/16

Visual Description:  Fictionalized agent of a wild and crazy guy!

Clue/Question:  When Steve Martin got the role of Inspector Clouseau, he was – – –

(While it’s not very likely that the woman in the cartoon is Chris Andrews (II) – Steve’s agent – it’s not totally out of the question either.  Since Caitlyn Jenner came onto the scene, it’s no longer safe to assume anything!  Does anybody remember when Up was up???  😉

There were no new clue words today, but the two middle clue word jumbles are coming up as new.  We have seen “ciykp” and “tutelo” before.  The answer letter layout was okie-dokie.  Swapping the order of the clue words might have made it a little more cryptic.  The cartoon is great.  I liked Steve’s banjo leaning up against the table, and the stills from Parenthood and The Jerk hanging on the wall.  Nice likeness of Steve too, as he is – facially, not talentwise – fairly unremarkable.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I see what you mean, UR. I figured the wall hangings and the book on the desk must have had some significance, but they were too small to yield much detail. No problem, though; the Jumble was a perfect piece o cake, just like today’s Cryptoquote.

Loved it and the analysis…bet those who get colored comics had some pink hints…was the ‘mama’ Mollie Rinwald?!

Straightforward again today. I liked the paper on the desk opened to the Jumble puzzle. Though it’s much larger than in any paper I’ve seen. Didn’t really look close at the wall pictures, though. 😀

    Hal, yeah!

Both the Jumble and Cryptoquote were pretty easy on 7/18! Sunday’s Cryptoquote has been a bear for me. I can’t seem to even get started.

I think you’re mixing up The Pink Panther and Pretty in Pink. Both great movies, but I don’t think Molly Ringwald and Steve Martin starred in anything together. Although they were both in (separate) John Hughes movies. Ringwald in Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club. Martin in Planes Trains and Automobiles.

Of course the Jumble in the Jumble was larger! They have to take a little artistic license, to show that all the cool people do the Jumble! The wall photos were to make sure you got that the guy seated was Steve Martin!

Quite straightforward. I had to think a second for OUTLET but the rest of the words were instant. For the final answer, my initial thought was that the second word was PICK and the first word ended in ED. That gave me TINKLED PICK, which didn’t make sense, but quickly gave me TICKLED PINK. Nice!

Wish I could see that one, UR, and give it a shot. Our paper doesn’t run the Sunday Cryp.

I love the detail in the jumble pictures- several times I’ve missed some nuance included in the drawing, or haven’t figure out who the people are, and I appreciate you including those details in your answers UR! Our paper is iffy-sometimes we can see the details clearly, sometimes not. Soooo…I rely on my magnifying glass and UR!
