Clue/Question: The retired teacher loved giving the grandkids a – – –
Pre-Answer: Two Words – “(3-letters)-(5-letters)” (6-letters)
Answer: “HIS–STORY“ LESSON
(No new clue words, but all new jumbles. All were fairly challenging. The answer letter layout was outstanding. Heart warming cartoon. Although, it’s always a little sad when the good teachers have to retire. Good teachers are a treasure. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
I love your comment about “good teachers are a treasure.” That’s such a true statement. With all the work I’m doing in schools lately, I’m getting to work with a lot of teachers, and meeting some of those “treasures” is such a pleasure. Thanks for continuing to do what you do. I sure appreciate it.
Thanks for the commentary, UR (even if it’s scaled back). My local paper doesn’t run the Sunday Jumble, but I often glance here to see what D&J are doing in the expanded format. DETDOS would have taken me slightly longer than the rest; isn’t that the ODDEST thing?
Attaboy, hal. It was tough concentrating on posting the Sunday Jumble, with my wife blaring the re-run of Madame Secretary! Today’s spoiler is back on track. Thanks for the humor, buddy.

Keep up the great work, David L. Hoyt! — YUR
UR and David, my son is starting his 3rd year of teaching ESL (it encompasses all subjects), it’s mostly Burmese/Asian refugees, and it is the utter joy and passion and calling of his life.,,and it has changed his life. My daughter is also going to be a teacher in 2 years! The depth of my joy at these 2 kiddos who are making a difference in this world… can’t describe it properly! David, awesome thing you are doing!
Hey, jenn! MY daughter will be entering her 3rd year of teaching this Fall! She teaches Math to middle schoolers, in the Bronx. She’s SO good at it, and her kids love her!
And, Hoyt is a good egg!

Both my kids go to childcare. It is a joy to see the teachers do so much for them. One of my son’s caregivers (who was also the primary caregiver for my daughter when she was younger) is so attached to him that she misses him over the weekends! Teachers do so much for so little pay. We really need to address that in this country (and elsewhere).
UR, that is awesome about your daughter- my son Alex teaches in middle school also! What a joy that they have found their passion, and it is the joy and reward of teaching!
Say, UR, if you get a chance, check out a video my son’s friend made- it’s his first year teaching, and he made a ‘welcome to 4th grade’ video for his students and their parents. Your daughter would enjoy seeing it, I think! Just google or hit youtube ‘Welcome to 4th Grade-Dwayne Reed’ and it will pop up. It’s gone crazy viral…nice to see some positives in the news! Best wishes to your daughter for back-to-school time! My son is in heaven back teaching, and I’m guessing your daugther is, too!
Thanks, jenn! I saw this video either on the news, or the Today Show, just the other day! Very clever and upbeat! I especially liked the part where he does a quick Obama impression. Best wishes back to your son!

Oh, thanks very much, UR! And glad you saw the video, it’s hard not to feel happy after seeing that one!
Jenn! I know you are very proud and have every reason to be. You too UNC! Thank your children for me. LL
LL! Will do, and thank you x 10! You are missed when you’re MIA! hugs!
I just love this painting by Howard Terpning dubbed here as “The relatable raconteur” thanks to somebody who associated it with the Jumble Spoiler for https://unclerave.wordpress.com/2016/11/20/sunday-jumble-spoiler-112016/
I just love the art piece above bubbed here as “The relatable raconteur” somebody inserted courtesy of Howard Terpning – “The Storyteller” — aka oral traditions in western art — Now that’s art worth owning.
I’m really glad you liked it, Bozo de Niro! Thanks for the attribution, and for taking the time to comment. — YUR
