Answer:  MANY TYPES

(Well.  That’s what I came up with.  If someone else has a punnier answer I’ll post it.  I always like these period Jumbles, but I’m not really feeling this one.  But, we do have another new clue word today, in “appeal”.  The jumble “paalpe” stumped me, and I resorted to backing into it.  The Hoyt Team is really keeping ralis95 busy lately!  His database keeps growing and growing!  All of today’s jumbles are coming up as new also, though the other three came to me instantly.  The answer letter layout was another cryptic jumble.  For me, the Ys kind of gave the answer away.  The cartoon is fun, with the nattily dressed businessmen, with one of them smoking, and the – now – clunky office machines.  The machines that used those rolls of perforated paper were in use probably through much of the 1990s, and into the early 2000s.  And, I bet there are still some places that use them.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
